PREMIX GRC
Premix GRC is the most popular form of Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete for small businesses and individuals. It does not require specialist, industrial equipment although a good quality mixer is essential.
If you would like to receive details of a typical GRC mix design and mixing instructions, please fill out the registration form at the bottom of the page.
OTHER PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
SPRING ROLLERS
Compaction of GRC is an important part of the manufacturing process. We recommend Flexible Spring Compaction Rollers as these move with the natural undulations of the GRC surface and reduce the risk of disturbing the underlying layers, in particular the face coat next to the mould.
When manufacturing Premix GRC, these flexible rollers are great for “rolling in” extra reinforcement in the form of Nets, Scrim, and other textiles.
FACING COATS
Face Coats are often applied to the surface of the mould prior to casting or spraying the GRC. The Face Coat provides the manufacturer with the possibility of incorporating coloured sands and aggregates, high-cost pigments etc. Face Coats are also used where the product surface is acid etched, sand blasted or ground back and polished to expose the aggregate without penetrating the fibrous GRC layers behind.
